summer solstice

It's impossible to ignore the onset of Summer Solstice underway as the air takes on a different scent, days linger, and a drive through the countryside feels bursting with life.

It is a time worth celebrating and one that has been for thousands of years.

The human experience; the soul's journey is ever traversing the landscape of life and these pivots in the wheel of the year mark thresholds and doorways brimming with guidance and support to fuel the journey.

So, consider spending extra time engaging the circumstances and experiences that remind you of your innate radiance, reflect on how far you've come, feel a sense of delight and soft pride in your accomplishments (getting up every day and drawing breath is an accomplishment).

Settle into the felt truth that your essence is as bright, powerful, radiant, beautiful, and necessary as the sun. And own it- allow this knowing to infuse your actions, words, and thoughts. Allow the wellspring of love within you to beam out like rays jutting over the horizon.

Questions of invocation:

  • What would I do if I believed in my innate radiance, power, and wisdom?

  • How does love want to spill out of me?

  • What would it feel like to believe in my inherent light? What would it look like to share it with others?

Poetry:

"Eat and drink the soul substance
as a wick does with the oil it soaks in.
Give light to the company." -Rumi

”Appalachian summer morning
Warm & a bit heavy
Like a hug wrapped around exposed skin
Then scent of juicy sweetness lingers
Birds sing their presence into being

A humble boastfulness lives here
The vivid expression of life’s desire to exist; to give & receive; to be seen, invoked
Love shows off its innate goodness & flaunts its inherent beauty unhinged

Oh Appalachian summer
Swing me back & forth on the porch of your divinity
That I might hold, tend, and embody your wisdom
Carried like the slow & steady rivers of your body
To the seat of radiance that emanates from within all." -Ashlyn Miller
