Being human; soul making; spiritual exploration.
Inner Woven is a sacred space for tending to the human experience. Our approach nurtures the relationship we have with ourself, one another, the natural world, and the mystery as pathways for organic growth and deeper connection.
The teachings and traditions we are down lineage from:
-
Yoga and Ayurveda are considered “sister sciences” in that they were historically and culturally taught and practiced together.
Yoga is a science, philosophy and architecture for going within and exploring the transpersonal aspects of being alive; a coming home to the infinite that is threaded throughout all of life.
Ayurveda is a science, philosophy and framework for engaging with life in a holistic, regenerative, rhythmic way that supports ones capacity to engage in yoga in a meaningful, grounded manner.
The teachers we are down lineage from: Indu Arora, Ryan Kurczak, Dr. Lad
-
Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented therapeutic model that helps address trauma, stress and undigested experiences that were too much, too fast, too soon. Developed by Peter Levine, Ph.D., it is the result of the multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, with more than 45 years of successful clinical application.
-
Animism is the belief that all life forms are ensouled- sentient, alive, and communicative.
It is the bedrock of precolonial, prehistoric cultural practice and cosmology that embedded the human experience within a living world.
Animism serves as a way of perceiving, participating and being in the world in a way that cultivates belonging, regeneration and interconnectedness.
Teachers we are down lineage from: Gabriela Gutierrez, Sharon Blackie, Daniel Foor, and my well ancestors of Irish, Scottish, and English descent
-
Expressive arts is a multi modal experience that embraces creativity as process not outcome.
Through poetry, music, visual arts, theater and the like one can return to their inner knowing and uncover insight.
-
“Mythopoetics refers to the practice of working with story, symbol, poetry, and myth to deepen a sense of meaningful connection to the world and one’s soul path through it.”
-School of Mythopoetics
-
Approaches that are sensitive to the reality that we are vulnerable to trauma and/or circumstances that are overwhelming, where our needs for safety, belonging, and dignity aren’t met and therefore, lead to unconscious patterns and beliefs that constrict us and need to be met in a titrated, resourced, relational way to untangle them, increasing our capacity for being alive and being ourselves.
-
A decolonial approach to social work and mental health that questions and opposes dominant power structures and systems of oppression that hinder individuals and groups from living an equitable, empowering, fulfilling life.
-
Exploring practical, grounded, ancestral ways of connecting and being in relationship with something bigger than yourself as an orienting center.
-
Holistic considers the whole you- mind, body, spirit. Rather than focusing only on thoughts or behaviors, we address the interconnectedness of your mind, body, and spirit.
Hi, welcome! I’m Ashlyn- yoga and ayurveda practitioner, somatic therapist, and healing arts facilitator working at the confluence of mental health, holistic living, and spiritual curiosity. Titles aside, I’m intrigued by and care about the mind-body-soul’s journey that has been held, supported, and honored for thousands of years.
I’m passionate about being human, untangling the knots that keep us stuck and limited, integrating experiences for post traumatic growth, and remembering the intelligent, wider world to which we all belong.
I come to this work with a decade of experience in the healing arts and a great respect for complexity and nuance. I started working in this field after realizing I wanted more out of life; out of a hunger for purpose, connection, healing, and authenticity.
What I have come to believe is-
We widen our edges, transform, and become more of who we’re meant to me when we feel seen and heard; healing happens in connection, not isolation.
We have an inherent intelligence and capacity for change, regeneration, transformation, and flourishing when given time, space, permission, and support.
We all have inherent dignity and gifts that are needed in the world.
And, that healing is not about “fixing” but remembering who we were before the world told us who we should be.
In this work, my fidelity is to the innate wisdom that lives within you, the whole you (mind-body-heart), and the gifts and dreams that want to express through you.
My approach is rooted in a holistic, fluid, body literate, anti-oppressive, earth reverent framework, integrating social work studies, somatic experiencing, yoga and ayurveda philosophy, animate principles, and mythopoetics; this work lives in the space between science and soul, the nervous system and the unconscious, the seen and unseen.
I don’t come to this work as an expert who fixes or controls. I come as a guide and fellow traveler, someone who has learned from experience, gathered helpful maps, and built a solid toolbox; who knows how to hold supportive space for the healing process to organically unfold in a way that is digestible, not overwhelming.
I am skilled at working with folks who are experiencing a sense of disconnection, lack of meaning, low self-esteem, self-doubt, shame, stuckness, not enoughness, masking, loneliness, chronic procrastination, perfectionism, emotional dysregulation, spiraling thoughts, rumination, relational stress, constant overwhelm, big life changes, and burn out with a focus on trauma adaptations.
