Unravel and Deepen
What practices, teachings, and ways of being soften you, empower you, reconnect you to your innate enoughness?
Permission to explore them with rapture and wild abandon...because it's good for individual and collective liberation.
Warm greetings,
I technically should be doing homework right now, but it felt so right to set aside this time to connect with you all and be creative (writing these emails is a creative process and expression for me).
The above quote has been on my mind (it's one that lives on my website) as I contemplate and reflect on, explore, and embrace ways of existing that counter and deconstruct systems, patterns, and beliefs that suffocate, suppress, disempower, deplete, and cause harm.
In some ways this is healing work...but not healing as in we need to fix something that is broken (because that's exhausting!) but healing in the sense that something is right, something is intelligent and it's summoning us to be with it and care for it. This may sound crazy when we consider what's happening in many places around the globe, but I truly don't believe these things are happening because humans are inherently f***** up, but because so many are deeply hurt, have been hurt, and are operating from that hurt.
And because life, nature, and our bodies are incredibly intelligent, individuals and groups develop protective patterns and ways of being as a response to that undigested pain and then they operate from it (whoof, it's kind of a lot and it's kind of really empowering to realize that there's nothing wrong with us; a this and that kind of thing).
So, moving on, Rumi's quote- an invitation to explore and relish in the wisdom, practices, and teachings that will unravel the patterns and beliefs that keep us stuck, disconnected, and disempowered. To approach healing as Dr. Gabor Maté explains is a process of remembering oneself as a vital whole; a process of learning to be with all of us with respect for our capacity (because too much can be overwhelming and not enough can be depressing or vice versa or whatever your experience is when your capacity is not honored).
Okay, so, as many of you are well aware, I thoroughly enjoy exploring and engaging in various ancient wisdom traditions, because from my experience they are pathways to this unraveling and widening of capacity. Over the course of history and many instances of colonization of various peoples, the "old ways" so to speak, have been suppressed, threatened, and vilified. But they can never be completely lost because they live in the earth and in our blood; they are part of the intelligence of life.
So, you are invited to join me in practice, which weaves in ways of old with modern living to facilitate the unraveling of the knot, the widening of grace and resilience, the reclamation of pre-colonial practices that embrace collectivism over individualism and power with versus power over [for those of you who have been awaiting for a virtual option...here it is <3 :) !]
