Mending Disconnect
Well-being and vitality are not solely comprised of the body, mind, and spirit, but also culture and environment. Therefore, it must be asked at each level "how it came to be that any individual feels they have to cringe, flinch, grovel, and plead for a life that is theirs to begin with. What is in any culture that demands such?" -Clarissa Pinkola Estés
The question posed above has been on my mind lately as I consider the sense of separateness contemporary culture creates and therefore, disempowerment and disconnect from awareness, truth, and soul (this can look so many different ways but I experience it as chronic confusion, self-doubt, stuckness, anxiety, low self-esteem, inability to find joy, and loneliness).
The antidote- gentle, slow, compassionate care and repair on all levels from the micro to the macro (the physical to the spiritual; the individual to the collective). And boatloads of curiosity.
There is no one way, right way, or best way to address this but, what I have learned is that certain conditions are really important- stability/safe enough, belonging, and dignity as well as time, space, and permission.
As we move toward Spring and nurture our dreams, I'm wishing you a journey filled with these life-giving ingredients to expand your capacity to be more of you (because you empowered is good for the world).
If intentions/heartfelt desires for this next cycle around the sun are still in process; distilling (I know mine are) and having the time, space, and permission to connect with them from a place of stability, connection, and self-worth would be helpful, then join me Saturday in ceremony to mend disconnect and widen in awareness, truth, and connection so that we may move forward together, empowered (register here).
We'll be celebrating the threshold of Imbolc (I perceive this as a way of mending cultural disconnect that no longer relates to the cycles of the natural world or the bodies natural intelligence), caring for what is on its way out, and making space for seeds of hope.
As far as all of the chaos going on in the world...do you think it would be as prevalent if we weren't disconnected from ourselves, each other, and the natural world? I don't.
May we rebel in soft-strength, connection, and rooted ways.
